Whether we like it or not, autumn is upon us. The buzz of the summer is beginning to fade away and the madness of the school holidays have either already ended or are drawing to a close. While it might be a relief for parents that kids go back to school this week, the impending monotony of the new term might have the little ones feeling a bout of the back to school blues.

Despite the summer’s fleeting departure, there are still a huge range of events happening across the UK for kids of all ages. While day-to-day normality resumes, we’re listing a tonne of events that will give the whole family something to look forward to.

Horrible Histories Live: Terrible Tudors

The Horrible Histories live show will transport you through all the goriest parts of the notoriously gruesome Tudor period. From the beheading of Henry VIII’s wives, the attack of the Spanish armada and the demise of Elizabeth I, no details will be spared!

The show will hit theatres in Southport, London, Redhill, Penzance, Portsmouth, Redditch and Winchester from Wednesday 31 August to Wednesday 26 October.

Encanto: Open Air Cinema

For just one night only, the hit Disney film Encanto will play at Falkirk Wheel on Saturday 3 September. Sing along to hits such as ‘We Don’t Talk About Bruno’ and experience the magical story of the Madrigal family like never before during this open-air screening with a special view of the Falkirk wheel.

Tickets are priced from £7 and food such as pizza, hot dogs and other snacks will be available to enjoy as well as a selection of hot drinks. Visitors are free to choose their own spot to sit and enjoy the film.

Peppa Pig’s Best Day Ever

This live Peppa Pig show is full of songs, games and fun and is perfect for those a little younger as it follows an exciting day out with all the show’s best-loved characters. George, Mummy Pig and Daddy Pig prepare for a road-trip brimming with adventure where Miss Rabbit, Mr Bull, Suzy Sheep and Gerald Giraffe all feature along the way.

The show will play at theatres in Leicester, Liverpool, Salford, Colchester, London, Telford, Weston-super-Mare, Chesterfield, Stoke-on-Trent, Ipswich, and Winchester this September and October.

The Enchanted Forest

Capturing the true spirit of autumn this September, the 20th anniversary of the Enchanted Forest light and sound show is set to completely transform Faskally Wood, Pitlochry. The Enchanted Forest performances will run from Thursday 29 September to Sunday 30 October.

Combining dazzling visuals with an innovative design and original music score, the whole family will be transported to a magical place in time to celebrate this year’s theme, ‘Together’.

Foodies Festival

Are you a family who loves their food? Head along to this year’s Foodies Festival which features food from award-winning chefs and stars from the likes of Masterchef and Great British Bake-Off, delights from local producers, masterclasses and workshops as well as live music from acts such as Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Natalie Imbruglia, Scouting For Girls, Gabrielle and more.

The three-day festival will take place at Earlham Park in Norwich from Friday 9 to Sunday 11 September and Escot Country Park from Friday 16 to Sunday 18 September.
